From a Childhood Wildlife Lover to Safari Guide

I was born in Mkhuhlu, a peaceful town just 5 km from the Kruger National Park. Growing up so close to one of the world’s most incredible wildlife destinations, my parents would often take me to the Kruger on weekends. It was there that my love for wildlife began.

I still remember one particular day when my father had to bribe me with a toy Jeep covered in zebra stripes just to get me to leave the park! I had become so fascinated by the baby elephants that I was convinced one of them and I would make great friends. I simply did not want to leave.

After completing my matric, I decided to turn my childhood passion into a career and began my journey towards becoming a professional wildlife safari guide. Through my guide training, I had the opportunity to learn and understand much more about the wildlife I had grown up seeing. It was an incredible experience that answered many of the questions I had as a child about animals, their behaviour and the natural world around them.

I later joined the GAP Tours & Transfers team as a guide and driver, where I have had the privilege of sharing my knowledge, experience and passion for wildlife with travellers from all over the world. It has been a wonderful journey filled with new friendships, unforgettable encounters and countless stories from the African bush.

What I love most about wildlife is that it always keeps you guessing. Every day in the bush brings something unexpected, whether it is a rare animal sighting, fascinating animal behaviour or a special moment that reminds you just how remarkable nature can be.

For me, being out in the Kruger, exploring its hidden wonders and sharing those experiences with others is more than just a career, it is my passion. I feel incredibly fortunate to do what I love while helping visitors create memories and experience the magic of the African bush for themselves.
